A statement issued by Istanbul Airport said that Istanbul Airport was designed to withstand earthquakes, and that it is prepared for a possible Istanbul earthquake.

It was confirmed that the potential effects of earthquakes on all facilities and structures at Istanbul Airport had been taken into account during the design stages in 2015.

In the 2015 report, a site-specific seismic risk assessment was conducted in order to determine the potential impacts of any earthquake that might occur, and seismic loads were determined that would be used in designing floors and buildings specifically for Istanbul Airport.

Ismail Hakki Polat, Deputy Director General of Istanbul Airport Operator Planning, confirmed that Istanbul Airport is ready to face a possible earthquake, stressing that they carried out design and construction work within the framework of earthquake modeling, including the terminal, air navigation tower and energy center.

Polat also pointed out that the geological structure before the airport was built was changed and made suitable for potential seismic effects.
